Plot introduction · · · · · ·
In the last years of Goryeo, the guards "Gianlong Guard" were loyal to the Goryeo King (played by Joo Jin-mo) and swore to protect the king's safety. Its leader Hong Lin (played by Jo In-sung) was the king's favorite minister. The two had been together for many years and had a very close relationship. The Mongolian Princess Baoli (played by Song Ji-hyo) who married from afar was neglected and had no heirs for many years. The Yuan Dynasty attempted to establish a new king and drive the current Goryeo King off the throne on the grounds that there was no successor to the Goryeo Kingdom. In desperation, the king could only let his favorite minister have sex with his princess, who was in name only, hoping that the princess would get pregnant and give birth to a child, so that the Yuan Dynasty would no longer have an excuse to change the emperor. Hong Lin and the princess first met the joy of love between men and women, but they fell in love with each other and had secret meetings behind the king's back many times. The king sensed Hong Lin's change, but still tried to restore their relationship to the past. However, when he witnessed the affair between the princess and Hong Lin, he castrated Hong Lin in anger. Since then, the relationship between the three has fallen into an irreversible situation.
