Getting Started with dur.la

Welcome! dur.la is a fast, private bookmark manager that helps you save articles, organize them with tags and categories, and access them from any device. Here's everything you need to know to get started in under 5 minutes.

1. Create Your Account

Visit dur.la and click Create Free Account. Pick a username and a password (at least 8 characters). That's it โ€” no email verification, no credit card, nothing else.

2. Save Your First Bookmark

On the dur.la homepage, you'll see an input box: "Paste any URL to try โ†’". Copy a link from anywhere and paste it in. dur.la automatically fetches the page title and saves it instantly.

Even without an account, you can try it โ€” bookmarks are saved in your browser and migrated to your account when you sign up.

3. Organize with Tags & Categories

Every bookmark has:

Click any bookmark to edit its title, URL, category, tags, or description. Use the search bar to instantly find anything across all fields.

4. Use the Chrome Extension

The Chrome Extension is the fastest way to save:

  1. Download from extension.zip
  2. Unzip and load in chrome://extensions (Developer mode ON)
  3. Click the dur.la icon or press Ctrl+Shift+D on any page

The extension works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc.

5. The Bookmarklet (All Browsers)

On Safari, Firefox, or mobile? Drag the Save to dur.la button from our homepage to your bookmarks bar. Click it on any page to save instantly โ€” zero install.

6. Import & Export

Need to bring in existing bookmarks? Click Import in the sidebar and paste URLs (one per line) or paste your browser's exported HTML bookmarks. To back up, use the Export button to download everything as an HTML bookmark file.
